- What is Junto?
- A place to find the two or three people you need to start a small business, and the tools to actually run it together once you have. You pick a business that already works — with its real costs, licences and a six-week plan — find people near you who can do the parts you cannot, agree in writing who earns what, and then run the whole thing in one place: chat, the plan, the money, and the agreement everyone signed.
- Is it free?
- Yes, for now. Starting a business, finding a team and running it in Junto costs nothing today. When that changes it will be because there is something worth paying for, it will be announced before it happens, and nothing you have already built will be taken away or held behind it.
- How do you decide who I see?
- What you can do against what a team is missing, how close you are, how recently the team was active, and whether they have already shown interest in you. That last one is why a team you hearted may appear higher in someone else’s list — but a pending interest is never shown to the person who received it, so nobody can tell from what they see whether you have hearted them.
- Why do I have to verify my ID before I can do anything?
- You do not, for most of it. Browsing, saving and reading are open to everyone with an account. Verification is required only for the things that involve another person’s time or money: showing interest, applying to a team, starting a business and sending messages. The people on the other side are agreeing to meet a stranger and split income with them, and a name attached to a verified ID is the least that is owed to them.
- What is the Pact?
- The written agreement a team signs before the money arrives: who holds which role, how many hours they are committing, what share of revenue each person takes, how decisions get made, and how much notice someone gives before leaving. It is signed by every active member from a sign-in no more than ten minutes old, it cannot be edited once signing opens, and changing it later means a new version everyone signs again. Shares shown anywhere in the app are read from the signed Pact and nowhere else.
- Is the Pact a legal contract?
- It is a written record of what a team agreed, signed by each member and timestamped, and it is far better evidence of an agreement than the WhatsApp thread it replaces. It is not drafted by a lawyer for your specific circumstances and it is not a substitute for one. If your business involves a lease, employees, outside investment or anything you could not comfortably walk away from, take the Pact to a lawyer and have a proper agreement drawn up.
- What is a trial?
- Two to four weeks with agreed deliverables and an end date, before anyone becomes a full member. Both sides confirm at the end — the person and the team — and either can decide not to continue without it being a falling-out. It exists because a month of working together tells you more than any profile does, and because leaving in week two should be an ordinary thing rather than a betrayal.
- How is the money split?
- In basis points, agreed in the Pact, and they must total exactly 100%. Every rupee earned or spent is entered into a shared ledger that only adds — a mistake is corrected with a new entry rather than by editing the old one, so nobody can quietly rewrite history. At the end of the month the ledger and the Pact together produce each member’s share, and each share becomes a payment link.
- Does money pass through the app?
- No. Junto calculates each person's share and gives you a payment link; the money moves between your own accounts. Nothing is held on your behalf, which means there is nothing for anyone to lose or freeze — and also that the ledger is only as honest as the entries the team puts in it.
- What is women-only mode?
- A setting that makes your profile visible only to other women, and shows you only other women. It works in both directions, in every part of the product — the people you are shown, the teams you are shown, and the matches made overnight. It can only be turned on once you have said your gender, because otherwise it would hide you from everybody including the people it exists to connect you with.
- What happens when I block someone?
- Everything open between you closes at once, in both directions: pending interest expires, shared conversations end, and neither of you appears to the other again anywhere in the product. They are not told. Reporting is separate and always anonymous — the person reported is never shown who reported them, and reports are readable only by the people who review them.
- Where does it work?
- Hyderabad only, for now. The businesses, the costs and the registrations are specific to Telangana, and the whole point is teaming up with people you can meet this week. Other cities follow once the first ones are running.
